Edison Mimeograph Typewriter No. 1

1895

The Edison Mimeograph Typewriter was a product of the A.B. Dick Company of Chicago which also manufactured Edison's Mimeograph duplicator. Printing was accomplished by turning a large wheel at the base to select a character and printing occurred by pressing a lever at the left side. The type struck up from the bottom requiring the operator to raise the carriage in order to view what was being typed. Operation was very slow.
